Here are a few sowing tips from our growers to help you get the best results:

Timing March the is ideal time to sow – early in the month if you growing tomatoes undercover, but wait until later in the month if you are planting them outside.

Compost Use sowing or multi-purpose compost and keep it just moist – too much water can be as bad as too little.

Temperature The seeds like heat to germinate – about 18-22°C. You can space out the seeds into one pot per variety to fit them into a warm place, but….

Light! Once you see the first signs of shoots emerging (usually after 7-14 days) move them somewhere with really good light – on a sunny windowsill or under a grow light perhaps.

Growing on When the seedlings have their first tiny proper leaves, transplant them to individual pots – bury some of the stem if they have started to get ‘leggy’, they won’t mind.
