A late maincrop variety bred and introduced in 1895. Known to be hardy and reliable. It shows signs of real drought resistance, with no signs of mildew. High yields of plump sweet peas, that be can be eaten fresh as a garden pea or great for freezing or drying.

Seed Story: A tall maincrop pea renowned for its flavour. It was bred and introduced by grower W.G.Holmes in 1895, shortly after the resignation of the famous prime minister whose name it takes.  The plants grow to about 120-150cm high and produce long slender pods, each of which can contain up to 8-11 deliciously sweet and tender peas. A reliable variety which crops well whatever the weather.
