Originating from Brecon in Wales, this is a beautiful black-seeded runner bean that’s been brought back from near extinction. A very fine culinary bean with pods up to 20cm long, and the dried seeds make a great pulse for stews, chilli and dips!

Like all runner beans, they’ll need support such as a frame with canes or string to wind themselves up. Sow indoors in modules in mid spring. Transplant once all risk of frost has passed and soil is warming up, giving 9-12” spacings and adding lots of organic material. Can also be sown outdoors in situ, in rodent free areas!
